We live in the Information Era, and as much as we’d like to deny it, the lives of most people currently living in the world today completely revolves around technology. Most people have used computers and the Internet. That’s not even counting the explosion of popularity that the mobile phone has experienced. Nowadays, everyone is completely reliant on their mobile phones to do even the most basic of transactions such as buying groceries or fetching rides. Because of this, it has become a necessity to be able to protect oneself from digital attacks. This includes everything from hacking, to phishing, and even to spying. TotalAV Essential Antivirus developed by Total AV can provide much need protection for your devices.Difficult to InstallI must admit, this is not a problem I come across often, and when I do come across it, I am reminded why developers try to keep the installation as quick and effortless as possible. The TotalAV Essential Antivirus didn’t take too long to install, but it was still longer than what was expected. Even a few seconds can feel like a lifetime for the impatient user. What’s even more annoying was that once the program was installed, additional downloads were required before you could run the program. It may not seem like such a big deal, and truthfully, it isn’t. However, it can’t be denied that it affects user experience negatively. Lots of Features in the Paid VersionThe TotalAV Essential Antivirus is clearly not lacking in features. It has a lot of useful functions that will serve to protect and increase the security of the users’ devices. It also has features that can help optimize their device. For example, this program isn’t just able to scan your device for threats and malware, it also has a System Boost function where users can choose which programs should launch during startup, uninstall applications, and manage browser data. It also has a Disk Cleaner that could clean up duplicates and junk from your computer. There is the Web Security feature where users can surf the Internet using a VPN, firewall, and ad block. Finally, there’s the Password Vault where users can store and secure their passwords.All those features are great and all, but sadly, most of them are only available in the paid version. The free version can only scan the user’s device for threats. The question of whether or not users should get the paid version is kind of moot. The free version is virtually useless, and the only way to really use this is to buy the product entirely. Other ObservationsOne good thing about this product is that it has a really nice design. It has a black background and most of the icons have different colors as accents. This gives off a playful, but not unprofessional, look about it. It makes the program very pleasant to look at. The interface does have some issue, however. Probably the most annoying is the slight lag in responsiveness. It’s not that big of a deal, but it does make the program seem slow and laggy. If you can afford the program, give it a shot but be prepared for some problems.
