I Am Bread

I Am Bread is from the makers of Surgeon Simulator and believe it or not, you are a slice of bread. Sounds stupid? It is. However, it`s nowhere near as entertaining as Surgeon Simulator. A slice of insanity When you start I Am Bread, you`re presented with a psychiatric report of a patient who presumably, is not the slice of bread but the owner of the house in which the slice of bread lives. He`s apparently lost his business, and his mind, after a run-in with the staff at Carpet World and is now working as a Street Cleaner. The aim of the game isn`t clear. Your only task is to move a slice of bread across a kitchen table, using the keyboard keys 1,2,3 and 4 to select a corner of the bread and drag the mouse over the slice to flip it. It`s painfully difficult to move the bread, which is one of the games major let downs. I managed to eventually drag the bread onto a skateboard although couldn`t control the skateboard. The only thing to avoid is falling on the floor in which case the "Edibility Rating" goes down until you lose the game. I ended up "committing bread suicide" by falling onto the floor until the edibility rating reached zero. Too hard to move the bread The controls are ridiculously frustrating though and it would have made more sense to have given the bread legs to walk around. The result of trying to use the keyboard controls and mouse is that the bread spends half its time thrashing around on the table like a fish out of water. Similar in look and feel to Surgeon Simulator The graphics are well done and typical for a Bossa Studios production i.e. very similar in style to Surgeon Simulator. The same goes for the realistic physics and bouncy, chirpy soundtrack, which sounds like a a mix between a Daytime TV show and a slice of bread going for a Sunday stroll. Definitely not the best thing since sliced bread I am Bread is a very unusual concept. This early release version isn`t the final product but overall it`s just too frustrating to control the slice of bread and play to make it fun.
