CPiA stands for Color Processor Interface ASIC, and is manufactured by by ST Microelectronics Imaging and Display Division, formerly VLSI Vision Ltd.. CPiA2 is the second generation of this coprocessor, and is capable of producing an MJPEG compressed video stream at 15 frames per second VGA and 30 frames per second CIF over USB 1.1. This driver was developed orignally by Steve Miller of ST Microelectronics. ST Microelectronics has released the driver code under the GNU Public License, and this website is the home of the open-source development and maintenance.
