Description - eDocumentManager

eDocumentManager is a secure document management application. Documents are saved into a single shared central SQL Server database. This makes it easy to share documents across a business. It also makes it easy to provide flexible search capabilities to find documents. The eDocumentManager application is a Windows Forms application, and it installed to users desktop PCs.

To access the application a user needs to be explicitly given access, and logon with a User ID and password.

Documents are stored in a central SQL Server Relational database, and can only be accessed by users given access to that document. This means the documents can only be accessed via the application, and provides very flexible searching abilities.

Documents are managed by assigning them to Projects and Clients. A single project could involve documents relating to many Clients. Or a Client might have documents involved with multiple Projects.

To work on a document, the user needs to Check it out. This extracts the document out of the database onto disk, enabling it to be edited. When finished, it is Checked back in, and saved back into the database.
