Description - AlphaVM-free
AlphaVM-free is a free emulator. Its set of features is restricted and the performance is limited. For full set of features and higher performance please check our commercial products.
- AlphaVM currently emulates a DS10, DS20 and ES40 systems. More systems will be added in the future.
- Number of emulated CPUs is 1. Note that we also provide a special SMP demo version that has runtime limit to 60min. This version is currently delivered as part of AlphaVM-free package. You can use it by setting the aalphavm_smp_demo.exe in the launcher. See the user manual for more Details.
- Up to 512Mb RAM
- The emulator has been tested with various versions of the OS
- - OpenVMS (starting from 7.1-2),
- - DigitalUNIX/Tru64 (starting from 4.0e) and
- - Linux (tested with Debian Linux 5.0.6).
- 4 SCSI disks.
- 1 SCSI CDROM drive
- 2 standard serial lines. Serial lines are mapped to TCPIP ports.
- 1 Ethernet controller based on DEC Tulip chip. The emulated Ethernet is mapped to the real ethernet by means of WinPcap packet driver.
- The performance depends on the host system performance. It is in general lower than of the real DS20. The performance is the usual performance based on a CPU instruction interpretation. There is no JIT -compilation in this product.
