A tsunami is a series of massive water waves caused by the Displacement of a large volume of water (mostly from an ocean or a sea) resulting in immense destruction at times. The displacement is mostly due to Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, underwater earthquakes, underwater explosions, underwater landslides, glacier calving, Meteorite ocean impacts and other such mass movements on or under the surface of the ocean or water body. Japan is one of the worst hit nations from both Tsunamis and earthquakes with around 195 tsunamis recorded till date. Due to the massive volumes of water and the energy involved, tsunamis often cause mass destruction in coastal areas. Two such examples of massive tsunamis in the last decade include the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the 2011 Japan Tsunami.
