Offsiter is a Backup Utility that compresses files and sends them as encrypted attachments to off-site e-mail accounts. Storing files away from your home or business premises is Far more secure than relying on conventional archiving mechanisms such as CD-ROM, tapes, and hard drives, all of which are prone to theft, damage, or local "acts of God". You can use any e-mail account to store your files, including the free ones provided by Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google. Offsiter can use archives created with any compression application. However, using Offsiter`s own zip compression gives you the rare option to archive only those files that have changed since they were last backed up; in other words, to produce incremental backups and drastically reduce the size of subsequent archives. When the archive is sent to an e-mail account, it is divided into separate e-mail attachments so that the provider`s size limit for e-mails is not breached. Each attachment is strongly encrypted to Prevent hackers from gaining access to your files by intercepting them during sending or by breaking into your e-mail account. If you ever need to recover an archive, you simply download the attachments from your e-mail account and use Offsiter to decrypt and merge them to recreate the original archive.
