Some ISPs won`t allow you connect to the other SMTP via port 25. They must force you to use only their SMTP because they are very Panic about spam email. Conclusion, MX record is the SMTP server. Some domain name have two or more MX record for load balancing. The lower number of preference is the higher priority.
