This Little application may help address issues with inability to use CD/DVD drives as DMA. If your drives are reverting to PIO mode, changing the settings in Windows may have no effect, but this may help. How it does it:It simply removes checksums for for the drives. When you reboot your machine, Windows will re-Detect the drives` abilities (hopefully as DMA!) What causes the problem in the first place:In PRACTICE, it`s GeneRally caused by ripping from or playing a dirty or damaged CD or DVD. Windows incorrectly determines that a slower read speed is necessary for the drive even though the media is the problem. Caveat:This application will modify your registry.
