Helen Elizabeth Hunt (born 15 June 1963 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress. She began studying acting at the age of eight with her father, respected Director and acting coach Gordon Hunt. Hunt co-starred with Paul Reiser in the television sitcom Mad About You, winning Emmy Awards for her performance in 1996-1999. She has also had a successful film career and has been in Hollywood movies such as Cast Away and As Good As It Gets, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1998. In 1998 too, Hunt became the first actress to win both an Emmy and an Oscar in the same year. Hunt was married to actor Hank Azaria on July 18, 1999 but divorced on December 18, 2000. She has a daughter with Matthew Carnahan.
