Description - ERS GeoSHP - Takes an ordinary JPG or BMP bitmap image file and creates a "world" file.

ERS GeoSHP takes an ordinary JPG or BMP bitmap image file and creates a "world" file that goes with it containing information on how to display it in GIS mapping applications. The "world" file was developed by ESRI as a way to "geo-reference" an image onto a map with latitude and longitude coordinates. It is used by many different mapping applications and of course is supported by ESRI based applications. Simply load the bitmap image into ERS GeoSHP, identify two points on the image, specify their corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates, press a button and a "world" file is created so that you can now load your image into many mapping applications. You can use aerial photos, scanned images of paper maps, and even screen captures from online mapping sites in ERS GeoSHP. (Please be Mindful of any copyright notices that are attached to the image you are using). Key Benefits-Convert JPG or BMP bitmap images into a geo-referenced map. -Only two points and two sets of coordinates are required.
